  1. The deer giving you the intense stares are great shots Rebecca and I also like the silhouettes of the deer as well. I always wonder when the deer look at you while photographing them if they are scared, fascinated by the human they see or they hear the clicks of the camera?

    • Thanks, Linda. They always know when we are there and keep a close eye on us. Most generally, after the initial freeze, they run off to a hiding place. I think it’s better that they don’t lose their fear and become too trusting. Next time it could be a foe.

      • Yes, that is so true about the deer. Your deer’s ears showed how attentive it was. I like when they flare out like that. It realized you were a friend, not foe so it lingered eating corn. The Metroparks is where we find the deer without going up to Northern Michigan to see them and the Metroparks do not permit feeding of any animals, even tossing peanuts to a squirrel to discourage animals being too comfortable around humans. I saw someone dump a bucket of corn one time when I arrived there very early.

      • Yes, there are too many people who would try to hurt them, not necessarily hunters. We had someone run over a flock of Canada Geese recently – witnesses watched in horror as he ran them down. That type of malicious behavior is horrific.
