Reflections

A lake is a landscape’s most beautiful and expressive feature. It is Earth’s eye; looking into which the beholder measures the depth of his own nature.  ~Henry David Thoreau

Cloud Reflections

Clouds reflecting in the still waters of Reelfoot Lake.

“Follow effective action with quiet reflection.  From the quiet reflection will come even more effective action.”  ~Peter F. Drucker

Passing through

Photos taken yesterday evening as a storm system passed through, bringing with it some imposing clouds.  It was impossible not to pause a moment and be amazed.

“We’ve got one short, precious life here on earth.  Let’s not spend it hurrying.  ~Aliza Latta

Storm clouds

We have had round after round of storm clouds passing through this spring.  They make for some interesting colors and patterns in the afternoon sky.

“Nature is a mutable cloud which is always and never the same.”  ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

Sunrays

We’ve had so many cloudy days lately, that it is good to see the sun — even if it is just peeking out from behind the clouds.

“Truth is like the sun.  You can shut it out for a time, but it ain’t goin’ away.”  ~Elvis Presley

Purple sky

The vaulted void of purple sky
That everywhere extends,
That stretches from the dazzled eye,
In space that never ends;
A morning whose uprisen sun
No setting e’er shall see;
A day that comes without a noon
Such is eternity.
~John Clare
