Going to Seed

Even after summer is gone and the plants have dried out and turned various shades of brown, the stems, with their numerous shapes and sizes of seed heads, add beauty and character to the landscape.

“For man, autumn is a time of harvest, of gathering together. For nature, it is a time of sowing, of scattering abroad.” ~Edwin Way Teale

  1. I agree with you Rebecca – you’ll see brown, yet bugs and birds are a spot of color making a beautiful image like the ones you’ve shown us here. (Especially that bright-green bug!) I think a milkweed plant going to seed with the fluffy seeds spilling out of the pod is so delicate and airy.
