“If you’re not a bird watcher you won’t be very excited, though gulls are graceful in flight and striking in appearance. If you’re a bird watcher this makes you weak in the knees.” ~Bryan Pfeiffer
You have the advantage of seeing the Hawks and Eagles since the trees have not leafed out yet – a lucky excursion for you Rebecca. Those Wild Turkeys are very colorful! And as usual your quote is perfect and so true.
Thanks, Linda! I agree that it’s a lot harder to spot the eagles once the leaves green up. That’s why we don’t drive the levee as much in the summer. I was tickled to see the turkeys and to get a photo before they ran into the tree line. Many of the migrating birds that we see in the grass along the levee each year still haven’t shown up. Hopefully, it won’t be long.
I never see the turkeys that close up and I started following a Metroparks photography site on Facebook and these folks have the tripods and big lenses and what they post on this site is amazing. Someone just posted a wild turkey today – it was so colorful and really unusual looking. They posted just its head and neck mostly. I hope I get to see one a little closer up. The Wild Birds Unlimited site I follow for local birding info says to put up our hummingbird feeders by April 15th as the map shows they are on the way.
I’d go one further and say that If you aren’t a bird watcher or a bird lover than you should leave the planet.
LOL! You would certainly be missing out on one of life’s fun adventures. 🙂
Nice photos and a great quote to go along with them! Non-bird watchers don’t know what they are missing!
Thanks so much, Tanja. No, they don’t.
