Spatterdock can be found growing around parts of the lake, providing a habitat for a variety of creatures and serving as nourishment for others.

Below is a dragonfly laying eggs on one of the leaves.

Beautiful photos. Our table on the deck has a glass top that looks like water. Dragonflies try to lay eggs on the tabletop.
Oh my, that must be an interesting sight. 🙂 Thanks, Timothy.
Nice collection and subject. 👏👏
Thanks, Ted.
I like the heart shape of these leaves! So interesting that they provide a landing for so many creatures!
Yes, lots of little critters hiding among the leaves.
Nice! 💛
Thanks, Eliza.
Those are amazing close-ups of the tiny critters on the spatterdock Rebecca. I enjoyed the video of the two dragonflies and one laying eggs. Albert Einstein’s quote is perfect for this post.
Thanks, Linda! You never know what you’re going to see.
That is one of the joys of walking in nature. I thought of you during this hurricane – hope you and your family were unscathed by the weather. The photos of the submerged Tennessee hospital were something else!
West Tennessee got rain and some wind, but nothing bad. Thanks for thinking about us. Yes, East Tennessee felt it a lot more.
Thank goodness for that Rebecca. Nature is wonderful sometimes, cruel other times. The death and devastation is horrible from Helene.
Great photos
Thanks!
