A small group of turtles bask in the gentle autumn sun, coming together not only to regulate their body temperature but also to socialize and assure greater safety.

Love!
Thanks! 🙂
Lovely social gathering! I enjoy the quotes you share so much! I’m a quote collector, too.
It’s fun to see a log that is packed with turtles. There’s a cold snap coming in this weekend so may not see them out like this again for a while. Thanks!
Love the photos and the words.
Thanks, Kathy.
Stacked turtles ! Very cool 🤗
The perfect basking spot. 🙂
Love the piggy backed one. 🙂
It’s my favorite too. 🙂
The pictures and the quote are so peaceful Rebecca. The turtles and their reflections as they bask in the sun make me want to be there with them, savoring the sunshine while looking up toward the sun.
Thanks, Linda. I enjoy the reflections on the water around this boardwalk on calm days. It is a good place to pause and contemplate. The turtles seemed to know that their basking days were limited with the cold weather coming in.
I know I would like this place too Rebecca. Those turtles clearly were tilting their heads toward the sun wondering how long before they could enjoy basking again.
I had to look this up……the collective noun for a group of turtles is called a Bale.
Turtles one of the few animals that do not make vocalizations.
They may not vocalize when startled, but the loud plop into the water certainly gets their point across. I guess a bale is a fitting name for a stack of turtles. 🙂
I like your description better…….a “Stack”
Excellent captures of the turtle pile activity, Rebecca. Nice to catch them before they all slide into the water.
Yes, they usually disappear quickly into the water when approached, but these seemed quite content right where they were.
That’s so awesome to see!
I always enjoy seeing them huddled together. Thanks, Jo!
