A Northern Flicker dropped by this morning to get a quick drink of water from our bird bath. This isn’t a bird that I normally see in our backyard, so it was a treat to get a glimpse of him.

A beauty! It’s a bird I’ve only seen in our yard once.
This was a first sighting for me. There was also a smaller bird with this one that had yellow in the wings that I thought might be a female, but she was much too flighty for me to get a photo.
