A young sparrow discovered a wire nest in one of my metal yard ornaments and was trying to decide whether to test it out or not . She timidly stood on one side of the nest, gave it some rather deep contemplation, then hopped right in. However, it didn’t take long to decide that it was an awkward fit for her, and off she flew. One of the children’s books that my granddaughter and I enjoy reading together is “The Best Nest” by P. D. Eastman. I guess that this was NOT the best nest for this little bird.

Such cute photos, and how lucky that you were there to see her try it out! And now that you mention it, I remember that book from when I was little 🙂
This is one of the little sparrows that hatched this spring. I enjoy sitting in the backyard and watching their antics. Yes, the book has been around a while, just a little short of 50 years, and is still a good one.
Oh, that’s cute! Glad you captured the moment.
I guess it had to try. 🙂
Love your series and post, Rebecca, how sweet and adorable! 🙂
