We stopped at the Big Sandy Unit Tennessee National Wildlife Refuge to see if we could see any hummingbirds at the feeders. We weren’t disappointed by the hummingbirds …

or by the beautiful butterfly garden and grounds which overlooked the lake.
I couldn’t decide which I enjoyed more, the flowers …

the birds …

or the butterflies and other insects.

“I love spring anywhere, but if I could choose I would always greet it in a garden.” ~Ruth Stout
Wonderous Rebecca!
Thanks, Cindy!
Beautiful birds, butterflies and flowers.
Yes, glad that I really don’t have to choose.
Lovely picture, especially the ones of the Hummingbirds
Thanks, Eileen! They are fun to watch.
God has blessed you with an eye for the beauty in nature. Thanks for sharing it with us❤️
Thanks for your kind words, Kathy. 🙂
Great captures to celebrate spring!
Thanks, Eliza!
That’s a tough decision – all three are beautiful sights! Are those monarch butterfiles in the top photos? So pretty 🙂
Thanks! Yes, they are. I have seen several Monarchs this spring. These were really attracted to the milkweed.
That’s where they lay their eggs, am I right?
Yes, on the underside of the milkweed leaves.
💙💙
You had a great day here Rebecca … we won’t have the flowers and butterflies for a little while yet, so I’ll enjoy yours in the meantime. Is that an Osprey on the twiggy nest on the platform?
It was a good day. Yes, there were two nests with Ospreys. Occasionally, their mates joined them at the nest. It was interesting to watch.
I am amazed that the nest holds together as the osprey are such big birds and landing on it, turning around in it, etc. I looked at the fire station last time I passed to see if there was another Osprey nest in the siren – not yet. It’s up too high to get a good look at the nest, but it’s fun to see the gathering of sticks. I enjoy following Jocelyn Anderson Photography on Facebook. She was taking lots of photos of Great Blue Herons gathering sticks for the nest. There is a rookery at the Metropark where she goes daily. When the chicks were born, she got photos of them in this twiggy nest, fuzzy heads and gangly bodies. So exciting to see. My Cardinal clan flew the coop … one day they were there, next day they were gone, but I still see Mama around.
