While out hiking, it is fun to find trees and root systems that have twisted and bent in interesting ways or that are oddly shaped, often for the sake of survival.Β The unusualness tends to add character to the landscape.

“In nature, nothing is perfect and everything is perfect. Trees can be contorted, bent in weird ways, and theyβre still beautiful.” ~Alice Walker
Maybe there is a lesson there: Make the best of the conditions that surround you.
I like that! Thanks! π
I am amazed how trees survive sometimes – sideways and half-submerged in the water, yet green leaves and new growth abound. I was always amazed at your photos where the trees were submerged in water and then ice in Winter, but survived. We humans have nothing over a tree!
They do seem to find ways to keep thriving in all kinds of conditions. After the tornado at the lake where so many trees were torn apart, many have thrived and have new growth coming out all over. It is amazing to see.
Nature is amazing how it repairs itself.
Nice contortionist trees.
Thanks, Timothy! It’s fun to see them.
I wonder what they would have to say if they could talk. Especially the ones that live for hundreds of years.
Very interesting stories I’m sure. π
