They do have some pretty color. I like the bright yellow eyes.
Mom picked a good spot – the babies blend in with the nest and the nest blends in with the split-rail fence/posts. She is colorful with her plumage and not in a drab way like many female birds are. You have got her vigilance capture in this shot Rebecca.

The phrase “bird brain” is so inaccurate. Not only are birds smart, but they have such devotion to their young.
