  1. You had a wonderful outing Rebecca and you’ve got a great mixture of flora and fauna here. I have to enjoy your dragonfly and frog as I never saw a single one of either this year – same for your Bald Eagle. The Egret is so graceful. The American Water Lotuses are beautiful – this year I kept going back to Lake Erie Metropark to get the Lotus beds at peak, then at peak there was a tornado at the park and when I returned 10 days later there were no blooms at all. I’ve seen some pods sometimes in late Fall/Winter poking through the ice, but never in the Summer – how did they survive Winter and look that good?

    • This group of photos was taken at different times between June and September. There’s always something interesting to see. Sorry to hear about the Lotus and tornado. I know that was disappointing. In general, the blooms don’t seem to last very long, but they sure are pretty at their peak. We usually see the Lotus seed pods in the late summer and early autumn.

      • This is at Reelfoot Lake? You always get a lot of nice photos from there. I know those blooms only last a day or two if it’s perfect weather. The beds were not destroyed as the tornado ended at the other end of the park thankfully. I’ll have to look for the Lotus seed pods as I’ve never seen them except on an interpretive cruise where we had “show-and-tell” and were told picking blooms or pods resulted in a hefty fine.
