Anticipation

With each passing day, something magical is occurring as more and more signs of spring are slowly being revealed.

This Brown Thrasher perched at the top of a bush, belting out its varied repertoire, seemed to be announcing the news that spring is quickly approaching.

“In March winter is holding back and spring is pulling forward. Something holds and something pulls inside of us too.” ~Jean Hersey

  1. beautiful signs of spring. Mild winter has all the wildlife and birds around here confused. I keep expecting to see some little sprouts of something in the garden, but we need rain.

    • Thanks, Kathy. I’ve heard that the geese and ducks around the lake have already begun migrating. They are a little early, but gives me hope that the little hummingbirds will be heading this way soon. Hopefully you’ll see those sprouts soon.

  2. Your neck of the woods is sure decked out for Spring Rebecca. I like all those pretty flowers, even the dandelion. I don’t believe I’ve ever seen nor heard a Brown Thrasher. What a beautiful, sweet song. The quote perfectly matches your photos.

    • Thanks, Linda! This week that beautiful, bright green on the bushes has popped out and new wildflowers every day. It’s nice to get away from the TV and enjoy the beauty of nature. I had never really stopped to listen to the thrasher before either. I didn’t realize, like the Mockingbird, that they could make so many sounds.

      • I’m looking forward to our permanent warm-up and Spring flowers. We’ve been dabbling in dribs and drabs of 70s, but then the next day it returns to Winter-like conditions. That is a beautiful song from the Thrasher.
