A pause in the flurry

A Tufted titmouse briefly resting on a crepe myrtle branch.

Never be in a hurry; do everything quietly and in a calm spirit.  Do not lose your inner peace for anything whatsoever, even if your whole world seems upset.  ~St. Francis de Sales

Raining acorns

IMG_5084

Walking down our country road has been treacherous over the past few weeks due to acorns pelting us from the large oak trees that line the road.  When the acorns can’t be avoided, I’ve found it’s best to just tuck your head under and pick up the pace … a lot!

November butterfly

A butterfly lights beside us, like a sunbeam …
and for a brief moment it’s glory
and beauty belong to our world …
But then it flies on again, and although
we wish it could have stayed,
we are so thankful to have seen it at all.

Downy Woodpecker

This downy woodpecker and some of his friends have been busy lately drilling holes in our pine trees.  I even heard one tapping on the house early this morning.  They are pretty birds and interesting to watch, but you have to keep an eye on them to make sure they aren’t doing real damage.
