This downy woodpecker and some of his friends have been busy lately drilling holes in our pine trees. I even heard one tapping on the house early this morning. They are pretty birds and interesting to watch, but you have to keep an eye on them to make sure they aren’t doing real damage.
“Parents need to fill a child’s bucket of self-esteem so high that the rest of the world can’t poke enough holes to drain it dry.” ~Alvin Price
actually you might want to thank them for tapping on your house. They have acute hearing! They tap in order to disturb any insects so they can hear them stirring? They in affect only make holes where insects are. If they are making holes in your house, you have some sort of infestation & should look into it.
We have lots of Asian Lady Beetles right now. I wish it was interested in those. 🙂
Love these little birds.
It is fun to watch all their activity.
I adore our darling Downy woodpeckers. They are usual comers to our feeders.
I don’t see them very often. There is a Red-bellied woodpecker that I frequently see at the feeder.
We have a family of Red-bellied. The enjoy the feeder AND they like the hummingbird juice 🙂
That’s pretty neat! I know you enjoy watching them!
