Scenes from around the lake

The weather was perfect this past weekend for a drive to Reelfoot Lake.  Every time we go, there is always something beautiful to see.

    • With its rodent-like head, I’m thinking this is a muskrat. We sometimes see them in water-filled ditches near the Mississippi river and swimming in shallow parts of the lake. They are definitely cuties!

    • I’m thinking the plants are Spatterdock or Yellow water lilies. They flower from June to mid-August, so you won’t see any flowers in October. Yes, I believe that is a Great egret.
