When I first arrived at the boardwalk, I could see this heron at a distance out past the trees. I thought that my presence might spook him and cause him to fly away. Instead, to my amazement, I saw him take flight, settling in a spot closer to where I was standing. As I watched, he casually snatched a couple of tiny fish out of the water. Then he remained in his chosen spot, watching me as I walked up and down the board walk.

The herons don’t seem to be as skittish as egrets, at least in my local experience. However, the egrets are attracted to people who are fishing! LOL
This one didn’t seem skittish at all. He seemed as curious as I was. I am thinking that he may have been molting by the look of his feathers.
When birds do settle and allow us in their space they always seem so curious and quizzical to me. This heron looks very interested…
I was amazed that it didn’t seem bothered by my presence at all. I guess this old, slow moving body didn’t look very threatening. 🙂
most beautiful…thanks!
Thank you! It’s always a blessing to see one of these beautiful birds! 🙂
Praise God!
