The White Pelicans are once again back to winter at Reelfoot Lake. From the boardwalk, we were able to watch as they glided gracefully through the water. Every so often, they would dip their heads underneath the water and scoop a fish up into their large yellow bills.

I’ve never seen White Pelicans before Rebecca. I enjoyed watching the video where they started to fly up to grab a bite to eat.
They show up along the Mississippi River and Reelfoot Lake around this time each year because the food is plentiful. They are fun birds to watch and amazingly accurate at locating and scooping up fish.
I enjoyed watching the video to see how they catch fish. They were quite quick and successful too.
