We spotted these blue herons standing in the floodwaters of Reelfoot Lake. Due to excessive rain during the past two months, the lake, which is usually out beyond the tree line, has spilled over its shores.

These two herons are in their glory – there must be a lot of fish in all that water. A fellow blogger in Pennsylvania had a pond in her yard and was having a devil of a time keeping the heron from “fishing” so she had to finally put a board over top. He was becoming a regular fixture in her yard!
