Most raccoons that I have encountered in the past have turned and headed in the opposite direction. This raccoon, however, ambled right toward us. I’m guessing he was hoping for a handout.

It didn’t exhibit any of the signs for rabies. I got the feeling it had perhaps been around humans a lot.

It did pose nicely, though I have to say I felt a little unsettled about seeing it coming toward me. 🙂
Yes I saw it was coming head on … you always have to worry that a critter is rabid, and that’s always in the back of my mind too with the squirrels. You never know.

I’d have been a bit alarmed if one approached me, I prefer my wildlife stay wild! 😉
I’m with you Eliza! I stepped out of the car to take some photos, but hopped right back in when it got a little too close for comfort.
