Walking along the boardwalk at the Reelfoot Wildlife Refuge, we spotted a Bald eagle sitting near the top of a cypress tree a short distance away. It was keeping a close eye on a number of coots which were swimming among the vegetation out in the lake.

Fantastic shots. The last shots in so characteristic.
Thanks! I wish I had gotten my camera zoomed out more before he took off. He made a quick departure.
It’s amazing how quickly large birds can disappear. Even when I’m at the right zoom and ready for them, they get away. My camera does 10 frames per second, and I still, more than half the time, I don’t get a good flight sequence.
You had a perfect background for this eagle shot Rebecca. He had a long way to reach those coots if that was his intention … that is a really high perch.
Thanks, Linda! I have a feeling he could get there pretty quickly if he was motivated. It never hurts to keep an eye out. 🙂
Gorgeous.
I’m always glad to see one. 🙂
Lovely photographs
Thank so much! It’s always a pleasure to come across one of these beautiful birds.
