We were excited to see a young eaglet sitting on the edge of a nest in a tree along the Mississippi River. A second eaglet could be seen lower in the nest, stretching its wings. Eventually one of the parents came back to the tree and sat in the shadow of a branch above them, dutifully keeping watch before settling back into the nest.
“I long to accomplish a great and noble task, but it is my chief duty to accomplish small tasks as if they were great and noble.” ~ Helen Keller
How great is that.
It was pretty special! This was the first time I’ve seen eaglets in a nest in person. 🙂
Always nice to see these captures. Nice 🙂
We’ve been watching her in her nest for some time. It was fun to finally see the chicks.
Amazing❤️
An unexpected but welcome surprise. 🙂
Oh that would excite me too Rebecca. How lucky you went by just then and saw them and their mom. Occasionally I hop onto http://www.explore.org to see the web cams of different birds and animals. I was on there over the weekend since it is “baby time” and they have two different sites where there are eaglets. I have been watching this webcam in California with two eaglets. The camera angles sometimes just show the mom and other times just the eaglets. We get a bird’s eye view if you’ll pardon the pun. I shared this link with Wayne – I knew he would like watching it, as will you. Here is the link to the eagle cam I’ve been following: https://explore.org/livecams/bald-eagles/channel-islands-national-park-sauces-bald-eagle
Thanks, Linda! I’ll check it out. 🙂
Enjoy Rebecca – they have so many web cams and they are searchable. You can while away an afternoon watching them.
