Occasionally I come upon a beautiful bird feather on the ground while we’re out walking. I enjoy seeing the different colors and patterns that each one has. It is also a clue to what types of birds are in the area.

best month to find feathers is August as all the birds are molting. That one on the bottom left might be a eagle feather and a primary at that?
I was thinking it might be a vulture feather. Every evening around sunset, we see them fly across the fields to their roosting place. But we do also see an eagle occasionally.
A nice selection, Rebecca… I wonder the stories they could tell?
Thanks, Eliza. Me too. 🙂
Lovey gallery of beautiful feathers.
Thanks, Timothy.
That’s an interesting collection of feathers here Rebecca. Is the first photo are those some Guinea Pea Fowl feathers maybe?
That was my guess. I can’t really remember where that one was made.
They have distinctive plumage. I had never seen them until a post you had, then saw some of my own a few weeks later.
Each one has its own beauty. It’s no wonder Native Americans used them as part of their wardrobe. God’s intricate design.
So true. Thanks, Kathy.
Nice finds! Some have beautiful colors!
Thanks, Sharon.
