Morning glories

I like to go walking in the morning when the morning glories are in full bloom.  They are one of the little wildflowers that always seem to make my heart feel glad.

The moon and Venus

A waxing crescent moon and Venus, in the west-southwest part of the sky shortly before sunset on October 3, 2016.  The two brightest heavenly bodies in the sky reflecting the light of the sun.  A pretty sight to see at the close of the day.

Lots of hungry caterpillars!

If you take a walk down our country road at this time of year, you are certain to see numerous hungry caterpillars wandering among the plant life in search of food to satisfy their voracious appetites.

“Stay hungry.  Stay foolish.  Never let go of your appetite to go after new ideas, new experiences, and new adventures.”  ~Steve Jobs

Moth and Partridge Peas

I spotted several of these moths fluttering among the partridge peas on our country road.  They were such small, light colored moths that I wasn’t sure they would photograph well, but was pleasantly surprised at the detail the camera was able to pick up.

“The beauty of life is in small details, not in big events.”  ~Jim Jarmusch

Photobombed by a squirrel

Recently, while out for a walk, I spotted a rabbit sitting quietly in some grass.  I was in the process of taking a few photos of the bunny, when a gray squirrel unexpectedly came bounding into view.  I guess he was interested in having his picture taken too.  🙂

“Taking pictures is savoring life intensely, every hundredth of a second.”  ~Marc Riboud

Red-Winged Blackbirds

A male and female Red-winged blackbird sitting in a marshy area near the Mississippi River.

The marsh, to him who enters it in a receptive mood, holds, besides mosquitoes and stagnation, melody, the mystery of unknown waters, and the sweetness of Nature undisturbed by man.  ~ Charles William Beebe
