For the past several days, a small flock of cedar waxwings have been sunning themselves in the bushes in our back yard in the late afternoon. They seem to want to soak up every bit of sunshine that they can before the sun sets and the temperature drops.
“It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold: when it is summer in the light, and winter in the shade.” ~Charles Dickens
They are beautiful Rebecca. I can’t blame them for soaking up the sun – they are eager for warmer weather to begin and it is probably still cold enough they must huddle together to sleep.
Yes, they’ve been doing a lot of huddling with this last cold spell we’ve had.
Spring is two weeks from today – it does not seem possible given our cold spell either.
Beautiful pics. They are just so striking!
I’m always glad to see them. They show up every year about this time and help clear the holly bushes of all their berries.
