Sandhill Cranes

The call of the Sandhill Cranes can once again be heard as they wander the grain fields around Hop-In Refuge in search of food.

“We are all wanderers on this earth.  Our hearts are full of wonder, and our souls are deep with dreams.”  ~Gypsy proverb

  1. I’ve never seen a Sandhill Crane, nor heard their call so I just Googled it … very different kind of call isn’t it?! They sure are beautiful in numbers and I especially like that dark red cap that each is “wearing” … a perfect matching quote to your photos as usual Rebecca.

    • Thanks, Linda! Yes, their calls are unique and can be heard from quite a distance. It is fun to sit and watch groups of them come in for a landing. It’s an unforgettable sight.
